ABC 7 Chicago
2025 Lunar New Year
“How meaningful is it for you to be able to see so many people, from all walks of life, being introduced to your culture?”
In 2018, I moved to the US. for a dream called musical theater. Went to art school, started taking jazz & tap classes, worked so hard on my English, and did everything I could in hopes of blending into American culture and society more and more each day, just to get a little closer to my dream.
Never did I think I would make my big news appearance as a Chinese art dancer —one of the core aspects of who I am. Getting to share and celebrate my culture with the world just makes me feel so seen and loved by so many, leading to this one conclusion: “Being a part of the Chicago community is truly a blessing.”
May the Year of the Snake shed away what no longer serves us and transform us into who we aspire to be. Happy Lunar New Year!
